History in the Making: 4th Trip to the DOME - Back-to-Back Champions! November 13, 2010

What a historical day for all Warriors! The day started off with the Washington High School Competition Cheer Squad and the High Steppers (Dance Team) both winning State Titles in Yankton. After their competitions were done they headed to Vermillion to cheer on their fellow classmates in the 11AA State Football Championship to claim the final State Title of the day!

The Dome was full of Warrior Nation fans as they filled the stands with their Black and Orange. What an amazing experience for young athletes to play in the DOME in front of a great crowd! For the Warriors it was their 4th trip in a row to the DOME and an opportunity to receive their 2nd straight Title! You could see it in their eyes how much they wanted this win and no one was about to take it from them. Offense shined as the Warriors started to rack up TD's by Mohr (3), Dunn, and Fideler while the defense did what they knew best - hit hard and prevent TD's. For many who watched in the stands and at home there was one thing that stood out more then anything else. It was not the hard hits you heard in the stands, the speed of the players as they ran for TD's, the great catches, or even the interception - it was the humbleness & respect the Warriors showed their opponents, the O'G Knights! The Warriors truly showed that they are the 'BEST" team all around! In the end it was a great day to be a Warrior (past & present) - 3 State Titles - history in the making!

On Monday, November 14th ten Washington Seniors were selected to the 2010 All City Football Team: #2 Aware, #8 Dunn, #11 Green, #12 Hermanson, #13 Mohr, #29 Wildfeuer, #44 Fideler, #45 Lewis, #79 Farniok, and #87 Halgerson. Coach Hermanson shared how proud he is of this Senior class with tears in his eyes. He has had an amazing experience coaching his son and the other players who were like sons to him. This is a special group of young men whom many will continue their football career in college. They ended their 4 years as a Warrior with a admirable football record of 42 wins and 2 losses (freshman year)! Congrats to all the Seniors - you are now an official a part of history!
